High on a hilltop surrounded by indigenous bush and enjoying sweeping views in all directions, Shumba Lodge lies far off the road between Hankey and Patensie in the Gamtoos River Valley. For those seeking a real "get away from it all" holiday or a conference or wedding function of up to 60 persons in the midst of nature, Shumba Lodge has the facilities. Being less than one hour from both Port Elizabeth and Jeffrey's Bay makes it a very convenient location.
Accommodation Our accommodation sleeps altogether 24 persons in seven comfortable rondavels, each tucked away privately in the bush and each with its own shower or bathroom. Six rondavels are on a B&B basis while one, sleeping four, has a fully equipped kitchen for guests who wish to self cater as well as its own braai. This flexibility enables Shumba Lodge to accommodate from singles and couples to large groups.
Our spacious lodge with its observation deck is the social heart of Shumba, with large dining and lounge facilities, an indoor braai, a licensed bar and a full sized billiards table for indoor entertaining. Outside are a huge braai lapa for the use of any of our guests, a splash pool and a swimming pool. Although most of our accommodation is B&B or self catering, dinner can also be provided upon prior request. Activities For lovers of nature, Shumba invites you to hike or mountain bike round our hills end enjoy the birding and game viewing. Among the game to be found are Sable Antelope, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, Giraffe, white and common Blesbuck, Bushbuck, Nyala, Impala, Grysbuck and Duiker.
